Promptwatch vs The Prompting Company 2026

The Prompting Company tracks coding agents on its upper plans and tests whether agents can use your docs. Promptwatch tracks every major AI engine from $95/mo, with crawler logs and conversions.

The Prompting Company and Promptwatch were both founded in 2025 and both publish their prices. Past the first dashboard, they measure different things. The Prompting Company is built for software companies whose buyers increasingly ask Claude Code or Codex what to install. Promptwatch is built to show any brand where it appears in AI answers, why, and what that visibility is worth in visits and conversions.

The short answer

Devtools, API, and infrastructure vendors with a real coding-agent channel should look hard at The Prompting Company, probably next to Promptwatch. Everyone else gets more measurement per dollar from Promptwatch, starting with a free plan.

What the credit math says

The Prompting Company meters usage in credits: one AI response costs one credit per region, one article costs 20. Basic's 1,000 credits spread over 25 prompts and three engines works out to about 13 responses per prompt and engine each month, assuming one region. The pricing page does not state a run frequency, so check that before you buy.

Promptwatch Essential's 6,000 responses over 50 prompts is 120 per prompt per month, across a longer engine list.

Where The Prompting Company is ahead

Coding agents. The plan table adds Claude Code, Codex, and OpenCode at White-glove, and its FAQ lists Codex and Claude Code as tracked coding agents. Promptwatch does not publish coding-agent tracking. If developers pick your SDK inside an IDE, this is a channel that Promptwatch, AthenaHQ, Scrunch AI, and Profound do not list.

The second lead is usability. The Agent Experience audit, Enterprise only, maps tasks agents run for a user and flags friction such as misconfigured API setup, missing documentation, or unclear error messages. Its public Agent Experience Benchmark has a coding agent read a product's docs and attempt a real use case in a fresh sandbox, with an independent judge scoring the result. A failed onboarding by an agent is a lost signup, and none of the platforms ranked above it lists a test like this.

There is a publicly priced managed service too. White-glove at $3,000/mo includes weekly reports, a dedicated success manager, and a specialist with a 24-hour SLA. The vendor-reported Hyperbrowser case study claims share of voice in browser-automation answers rose from 3% to 58%.

Where Promptwatch is ahead

Breadth at every price point. Promptwatch runs all AI models on every paid plan. On The Prompting Company, Claude and DeepSeek first appear at $3,000/mo.

Then the owned-site loop. Promptwatch ingests crawler logs from Cloudflare, CloudFront, Fastly, Vercel, Netlify, Akamai, Google Cloud CDN, or custom HTTP, and maps a crawl to the citation that followed. Its visitor script ties AI referrals to conversions directly, instead of reading them from Google Analytics. Citation analytics go to page level and break out Reddit and YouTube sources. Prompts carry search volume, difficulty, and query fan-outs. Content Agents publish to Webflow, Framer, or WordPress through a review inbox, automated from Business.

Who should pick which

API or SDK company where developers choose tools through coding agents. The Prompting Company for agent testing and coding-agent coverage, with Promptwatch for crawler logs and conversions on the docs site.

B2B SaaS without an agent-driven install path. Promptwatch Professional. The Agent Experience layer will not apply.

Consumer or commerce brand. Promptwatch, with Business for ChatGPT Shopping and Ads Radar.

Team with no GEO staff and a large budget. White-glove is a real option. Compare it with Promptwatch Business plus an internal owner; the price difference is about $2,400 a month.

Agency. Promptwatch Kick-off at $199/mo with unlimited projects and prompts. The Prompting Company does not publish an agency plan.

Verdict

The Prompting Company owns a narrow channel well: coding agents and whether they can actually use your product. Promptwatch covers the rest of AI visibility in more depth for less money, with crawler logs, page-level citations, and conversion tracking that the other side does not document. Unless coding agents are your main acquisition channel, start with Promptwatch.
