First Answer vs Profound (2026): Self-Serve Tracker or Enterprise Agent Program?

First Answer bills monthly from $135 with action plans and listed crawler logs. Profound bills yearly from $99 and saves its best features for Enterprise. Compared, with Promptwatch as the benchmark.

First Answer and Profound are built for different buyers. First Answer is a self-serve tracker from Brazil with monthly USD pricing. Profound is sold as enterprise marketing agents, and its public tiers are annual only. They collide at one price point. First Answer Pro is $370/mo for 100 prompts. Profound Growth is $399/mo, billed yearly, for 100 prompts.

Same prompt count, less than $30 a month apart. So the buying question is narrow: at roughly $400 a month, which one tracks more engines and does more with the result?

A third number belongs in that comparison. Promptwatch Professional is $245/mo for 150 prompts.

First Answer: what it does well

Essential covers 50 prompts on ChatGPT and Gemini with daily updates, up to 3,100 responses a month and 10 competitors. Pro moves to 100 prompts, five models, up to 12,400 responses and 15 competitors. Each tier comes with a fixed number of prioritized action plans, five or twelve a month. A typical plan points you at a topic where AI answers don't link to your brand, or at a page that gets cited but sits low in the answer.

It also lists AI traffic and crawler logs, which Profound doesn't publish. Enterprise adds real-time monitoring and up to eight models, Claude and Google AI Mode among them. Portuguese support makes it a natural fit for Brazilian brands.

First Answer: where it stops

One brand per self-serve plan. Two engines on Essential. Pro's five models are listed two ways on the pricing page (Grok on the plan card, Copilot in the FAQ), so ask which set you get. The crawler-log feature is described only in a line: no named bots, no crawl-to-citation path, no link from AI visits to conversions. Content is one or two AI-generated pieces a month, and no CMS publishing is described.

Profound: what it does well

Engine depth at the top. Enterprise covers up to ten engines: ChatGPT, Perplexity, AI Overviews, Gemini, Copilot, Claude, Grok, Meta AI, DeepSeek and AI Mode. Prompt Volumes estimates real query demand per prompt. First Answer publishes nothing comparable. The product now leads with marketing agents for AEO and SEO, content and demand, and PR. If you want AI search as one channel inside a wider agent program, that scope is the point.

Profound: where it stops

The public tiers are thin. Starter is ChatGPT only, 50 prompts, one seat. Growth gets three engines, two fewer than First Answer Pro at a similar price, and only on annual billing. The ten engines, full Prompt Volumes, API and SSO are Enterprise, and Enterprise contracts start around $40k a year. No crawler-log product, visitor analytics or CMS publishing is published.

Head-to-head

At the $400 tier, First Answer wins on paper. Five models beats three, monthly billing beats annual, and you get twelve action plans plus listed crawler logs.

At the top, Profound wins for a large enterprise. Ten engines, a demand dataset and agents that reach into PR and demand generation are a different class of purchase.

If you might be wrong about the tool, First Answer is the smaller bet. A monthly plan is easier to leave than a year of Growth.

Where Promptwatch fits

Promptwatch undercuts both at the tier where they overlap. Essential is $95/mo with a 7-day trial, and its 50 prompts run across every tracked LLM. Professional is $245/mo for 150 prompts, 18,000 responses and 2 projects, more prompts than either $400 plan.

The features differ too. Professional unlocks Agent Analytics with 25M crawler logs: ChatGPTBot, ClaudeBot, PerplexityBot, GoogleOther and the Meta AI crawler, each tied to a crawl-to-citation path, with error tracking. First Answer's crawler line leaves that detail out. Visitor analytics counts AI-referred sessions and conversions. Prompts carry search volumes, difficulty and query fan-outs, so demand data doesn't need an Enterprise contract. Citation analytics reaches page level, Reddit and YouTube. Content Agents write the missing page and publish it to Webflow or Framer through a review inbox.

Verdict

Pick First Answer over Profound if you are one brand outside the US, want monthly billing, and value five engines over Profound Growth's three. Pick Profound if you are a large enterprise buying an agent program with a five-figure annual budget.

Shopping in the $250 to $400 band? Test Promptwatch Professional first. It costs less than both mid tiers, tracks more prompts, and adds named crawler logs and conversions neither documents.

FAQ

Is First Answer Pro or Profound Growth better value?

On published specs, First Answer Pro: $370 monthly for 100 prompts on five models, against $399 billed yearly for three engines.

Which tool tracks Claude?

First Answer adds Claude only on Enterprise. Profound names Claude among its ten Enterprise engines but doesn't list which three engines Growth gets. Promptwatch tracks Claude from Essential.

Should I evaluate Promptwatch before First Answer or Profound?

Yes, if your budget is under Profound Enterprise. Promptwatch Professional costs less than either mid tier, has more prompts, and is the only one of the three with published crawl-to-citation logs and AI-referred conversion tracking.
