AI Search Share of Voice Tracking Tools: Brand Visibility in ChatGPT and Perplexity

Share of voice trackers for ChatGPT and Perplexity, ranked on what the entry plan actually covers: both engines, a competitor set, a usable cadence, and citations.

You want one chart: your brand against three or four competitors, in ChatGPT and in Perplexity, moving over time. Nearly every tool on our leaderboard shows a chart like that in its demo. Far fewer deliver it on the plan a normal team buys. The usual catch is that one of the two engines sits on a higher tier, or the share is built on modeled prompts instead of the questions you chose.

This ranking scores the tracker, not the demo. If you want the measurement method itself (prompt sets, presence rate vs mention share, sampling), that's covered in our share of voice method guide.

How we ranked this

Five checks, roughly in order of weight:

  • Both ChatGPT and Perplexity on the entry paid plan, with no add-on needed.
  • A share-of-voice or competitor-share view against brands you name, reported per engine.
  • Prompts you write, not prompts modeled from keyword data.
  • A refresh cadence fast enough to trend. Weekly or monthly snapshots lose points.
  • Citations next to the share, so you can see which pages earned it.

The ranking

  1. Promptwatch. Both engines on every paid plan, share of voice per engine, and the cited URLs behind it.
  2. AthenaHQ. Nine engines on Starter, but the documented output is a blended GEO score.
  3. Scrunch AI. Competitor benchmarking on up to nine engines, refreshed weekly.
  4. Brand24. AI share of voice on nine engines as an add-on with an unpublished price.
  5. Profound. Share of voice exists. Perplexity on the self-serve tiers is not confirmed.
  6. Semrush AI Toolkit. Competitor share inside Semrush, on AI-generated prompts.
  7. Ahrefs Brand Radar. Category-level mention share from an index. Treat it as research.
  8. Peec AI. Per-prompt competitor share; you spend two of your three included models on these engines.
  9. Otterly.AI. Both engines in the base four, no documented share-of-voice view, stale data.

Where each tool drops points

Promptwatch monitors the real ChatGPT and Perplexity interfaces on paid plans, alongside Gemini, Claude, Google AI Overviews, and others. Share of voice and competitive benchmarking sit on the same prompt data as sentiment. Citation analytics show the page and domain behind each mention, including Reddit and YouTube. Prompt trends show what changed between checks when your share drops. Essential is $95/mo for 50 prompts and 6,000 responses. Professional is $245/mo for 150 prompts and 18,000 responses. It drops a point on the free tier. Explore covers ChatGPT only with 10 prompts, so a ChatGPT vs Perplexity comparison needs a paid plan from the start.

AthenaHQ tracks nine engines on Starter at $295/mo ($245 annual), ChatGPT and Perplexity included. Its listing describes a unified GEO score that blends citations, sentiment, traffic impact, and query types. That's useful for a single headline number. It's less useful if the board wants a competitor share chart per engine, which the listing doesn't document as its own view. Credits are spent per AI response, so tracking a competitor set daily on two engines eats allowance quickly. Starter is one country.

Scrunch AI has competitor benchmarking across up to nine engines and 350 custom prompts on Starter ($250/mo annual, $300 monthly). The listing says data refreshes weekly. For share of voice that's a real cost, because a weekly point is one sample of a number that varies run to run. Prompt credits also burn per engine.

Brand24 lists AI share of voice, sentiment, and key citing sources across nine engines, ChatGPT and Perplexity among them. Its advantage is that the AI view sits next to social listening across 25M+ sources. It drops points because the add-on price and the base plan price aren't published on the AI visibility page, so you can't compare it on cost without a sales call.

Profound reports share of voice, citation share, and competitor cite-rates by prompt cluster. Starter at $99/mo annual is ChatGPT only. Growth at $399/mo annual covers three engines, and the listing doesn't say which three, so ask whether Perplexity is one before signing. The full engine list is Enterprise, starting around $40k a year. Billing is annual only.

Semrush AI Toolkit tracks AI Overviews, ChatGPT, and Perplexity with competitor share comparisons. It's $99/mo per domain for five engines and 25 prompts. The listing notes tracked prompts are AI-generated approximations rather than real user queries, which matters for share: you're measuring your share of questions Semrush guessed.

Ahrefs Brand Radar measures brand and competitor mention share across a large index. Each AI index is $199/mo on top of an Ahrefs plan from $129/mo, or $699/mo for all six (ChatGPT and Perplexity included). Prompts are modeled from Google keyword data, chatbot indexes refresh on roughly monthly cycles, and an independent January 2026 test cited on the listing found it reporting 3 ChatGPT mentions where manual checks verified 123.

Peec AI tracks competitor share per prompt with daily data. Starter is $95/mo for 50 prompts and three models. Pick ChatGPT and Perplexity as two of the three and you have one slot left. Extra models cost $35 to $165/mo each. There's no historical backfill.

Otterly.AI includes ChatGPT and Perplexity in its four base engines. The listing documents brand mentions and citations but no share-of-voice view, data can be up to seven days stale, and Lite's 15 prompts at $29/mo won't hold a competitor set.

Who should pick which

If you already pay for Semrush or Ahrefs and only need a directional slide, their add-ons will do and you skip a new vendor. If you're a PR team that lives in Brand24, the add-on puts AI share next to press and social. If the share chart is the number you'll be judged on, use a tool where you write the prompts, both engines are included, and the citations explain the movement.

The recommendation

That last case is Promptwatch. The share-of-voice view is per engine, the competitor list is yours, and when Perplexity share drops while ChatGPT holds, citation analytics show whether a competitor's page or a Reddit thread took the slot. That tells you what to do next week, which a share number alone never will. Start on Essential at promptwatch.com, load 30 to 50 buyer prompts with three competitors, and read the trend after two weeks before you expand.
