VisiScan vs Rankscale 2026

VisiScan is a four-engine local scan at $0 / $49 / $29. Rankscale is 17+ engines from $20/mo. Coverage per dollar versus a named-rate PDF, with Promptwatch in the table.

VisiScan and Rankscale sit in the same shopping tab because both are cheap ways to hear whether an assistant named you. They do not buy the same thing. VisiScan is five or twelve buyer questions on ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, and Gemini. Rankscale, from Vienna GmbH, puts 17-plus engines on every plan from $20/mo with no per-engine surcharge, plus GEO site audits. Promptwatch is the third column when you wanted logs, citation depth, and a publish loop, not a coverage bargain or a local PDF. Three products, three jobs, and the shopping tab puts them next to each other because the headlines all say "AI visibility." A buyer who reads the headline and not the meter buys the wrong one, which is the reason this comparison exists.

Rankscale Pro is $99/mo with 1,200 credits. Growth is $385/mo with 5,500 credits, API, and white-label. Their own docs say visibility leads business results by 4 to 8 weeks with only proxy linkage. Audit scores wobble run to run. The UI moves. Setup is technical, so the cheap entry price comes with a configuration cost the listing does not advertise, and the configuration cost is the part that decides whether the cheap price is cheap.

VisiScan $49 is one-time, up to 144 answers. The Monitor tier is $290/yr. There is no 17-engine list. The methodology is public. There is a 7-day refund on the report. Harborlight is illustrative, and the vendor numbers stay vendor, because a vendor case study is a story about someone else's brand and not a number about the buyer's.

VisiScan's case

You are a local trade. You will not babysit Rankscale credits. You want Claude on a free pass and a file to paste. Four engines, counted samples, and localization. That is a better first hour than $20 you will not configure, because the local trade does not have a person to tune a credit meter, and a credit meter is a thing that burns whether you watch it or not.

You lose the long tail. Rankscale's point is the assistants most trackers skip, and the long tail is where a lot of the surprise citations live. VisiScan will not grow into that by paying $29, because $29 buys another weekly 12-question scan, not a wider engine list, and a wider engine list is the thing the long tail needs.

Rankscale's case

Coverage per dollar. Founder-led onboarding. Audits next to visibility. 120 credits at $20 is a real standing meter, not one scan per URL, and a standing meter is what a weekly report needs, because a weekly report needs a number that refreshes on a schedule.

You lose a local PDF workflow, the Claude-as-a-story angle (Claude is in the 17-plus list, but the product is credits, not a plumber report), and the 7-day "five new things" refund. Agencies hit no PDF and API at $385, which is the tier that adds the API and white-label the listing mentions, and the API tier is the one that turns a cheap tracker into a real spend.

Third column

Promptwatch Essential at $95 is 50 prompts, 6,000 responses, citations, visitor events, and five AEO articles. Professional at $245 is 25M crawler logs. Rankscale does not publish that log product, so the crawl-to-citation path is not in the Rankscale column, and the crawl-to-citation path is the thing that turns a visibility number into a program you can act on. VisiScan's beacon counts referrers on Monitor only. Explore is 10 ChatGPT prompts without Rankscale's 8x burn math and without VisiScan's one-shot cap, which makes it the cleanest free starting point of the three, and the free starting point is the part that lets a team test before it spends.

$20 is not $95. $29 VisiScan is not Promptwatch. $385 Rankscale Growth is still not crawl-to-citation, and the three price points describe three different products, and a price point is a product class, not a discount.

Pick

VisiScan for a local named-rate this afternoon. Rankscale if engine count per dollar is the RFP line. Promptwatch if the line was measurement plus publish. Do not buy Rankscale because VisiScan felt too small, then skip Promptwatch. Coverage is not crawler logs, and the crawl log is the thing that turns a visibility number into a program you can act on, which is the gap the other two products leave open.
