Rankability vs AthenaHQ (2026): agency SEO workspace or GEO action platform?

Rankability Agency and AthenaHQ Starter cost almost the same, $297 and $295 a month, and buy very different things. Monitoring volume, how each turns data into work, agency fit, and the layer neither one publishes.

Put Rankability Agency ($297/mo) next to AthenaHQ Starter ($295/mo) and the prices are two dollars apart. The products aren't close. Rankability is an agency workspace for content, audits, Google and local rankings, with AI answer tracking in the mix. AthenaHQ is a generative engine optimization platform, built by former Google Search and DeepMind engineers, that scores AI visibility and turns gaps into tasks.

Rankability was read from rankability.com on 28 October 2026. AthenaHQ figures come from its entry in our catalog, read from its pricing page on 24 October 2026.

Monitoring volume

This is where the two pricing models pull apart. Rankability counts saved questions; each one runs daily across whichever of its 11 platforms you select. AthenaHQ counts responses: one credit is one AI answer.

Some simple arithmetic shows the gap. One prompt run daily on 11 models for 30 days is 330 responses. If AthenaHQ's 3,600 credits are a monthly allowance (the pricing entry doesn't spell out the period), that covers about ten prompts at full daily coverage, or more prompts if you run fewer models or a slower cadence. Rankability Agency gives 300 saved queries on a daily schedule for $2 more. On raw monitoring volume per dollar, Rankability wins clearly. AthenaHQ sells extra credits as an add-on, priced on request.

Turning data into work

AthenaHQ's pitch is execution. Results roll up into a GEO score, and an Action Center turns gaps into on-page and off-page tasks someone can be assigned. A content optimization agent sits on Starter, and the pricing page lists Shopify and Webflow integrations plus Google Analytics and Search Console connections. For an in-house team that will work a queue every week, that structure is the product.

Rankability's version is broader and more agency-shaped. Content projects cover research, brief, outline, draft and optimization guidance, with two AI revisions each. Automate schedules drafts from approved topics to WordPress, Webflow or a GitHub pull request, and doesn't publish by default. Its assistant, Serena, suggests next steps from client data that need approval. Add weekly Google rank tracking, Local Pack scans and site audits up to 1,000 pages, and Rankability covers far more of a classic SEO retainer.

Agency fit

Rankability is built around client workspaces, unlimited on every plan, along with unlimited team members, branded reports, client approvals and a read-only client portal. The catch is that every allowance is shared, so 300 queries across ten clients is 30 each.

AthenaHQ's entry doesn't describe multi-client workspaces on Starter. Essential lists unlimited users. Multi-region and multi-language support, persona targeting, SSO, an audit log and the Athena Citation Engine are on custom Enterprise, which matters if your clients sell in more than one country, because Starter is country level.

What neither one publishes

Neither tool publishes server-side AI crawler logs. Rankability's crawler check reads robots.txt and says so. Neither publishes a visitor script of its own that attributes AI-referred sessions to conversions; both pull in connected analytics data instead. Neither lists prompt search volumes or query fan-outs in the sources we used.

Who should pick which

Pick Rankability if you're an agency selling content and rankings, you want AI tracking for many clients at once, and you need the volume of daily checks. Pick AthenaHQ if you're one brand in one market, you'd rather start free, and your team wants an action queue built on a GEO score more than a content factory.

The measurement layer

Whichever you choose, you'll still be missing the evidence: whether AI crawlers fetched the page, and what an AI citation was worth. Promptwatch is the platform we'd add for that. Agent Analytics logs IP-verified GPTBot, OAI-SearchBot, ClaudeBot and PerplexityBot hits with a crawl-to-citation path from Professional ($245/mo) and on every agency plan, and visitor analytics tie AI-referred visits to conversions. Agencies get unlimited prompts from Kick-off at $199/mo, with a 7-day trial on monthly billing.
