See Which Competitors Advertise Inside Your ChatGPT Prompts
We rank Promptwatch first for seeing which rivals buy sponsored slots on your ChatGPT prompts. Ads Radar lists advertisers, ad counts, and share of ads over time.
The reason to track ads inside ChatGPT is competitive. A rival appears above you in an answer and you want to know if they paid for the slot or earned it. Prose mention tracking cannot answer that, because a name in a sentence carries no bid signal. The sponsored unit does, and Ads Radar inside Promptwatch records it. We rank Promptwatch first for this query because it stores the advertiser against the prompt and lets you filter the lot. Review: Promptwatch. Product: promptwatch.com. The rest of the directory stops at mentions.
The ranking turns on the prompt join again. A tool that stores ads without the prompt tells you what ran. A tool that stores the ad against the prompt that triggered it tells you where it ran, and that is the question a brand team has. Ads Radar is the second kind, and it gets the data by watching the real ChatGPT UI, not through an OpenAI partnership that does not exist.
The prompt view comes first
Start with the prompts that carry ads at all. Ads Radar lists the prompts whose answers contained sponsored ads, with an ad count and a latest capture time per prompt. Sort by ad count. The prompts with the most captured ads are where competitors are buying repeatedly, and a rival who buys your branded prompt every week is running a campaign, not testing one.
This view also tells you where not to spend time. A prompt that has never returned a sponsored unit is not an auction you are losing. It may not be an auction at all.
The advertiser view is the rival you missed
Next, list advertiser root domains ordered by ad count. This is the set of brands buying into your prompt set, ranked by frequency. The value here is the rival who is not in your SEO competitor set but keeps showing up in the paid slot inside ChatGPT. SEO competitor lists are built from search results. ChatGPT ad competitors are a different list, and this is how you find it.
For any one domain, filter the full ad list to just that advertiser. Each row has the ad creative, the advertiser name, the landing page, the source response, and the position of the ad inside that answer. You read their actual copy. Save the exact string. A paraphrase is a guess, and a guessed ad is a fabricated data point.
Share of ads over 90 days
A snapshot tells you who is buying. A trend tells you who is gaining. Ads Radar pulls the top advertiser domains with daily ad counts, defaulting to the last 90 days, so you can read share of ads over time. A rival whose daily count is climbing on your branded prompts is a different problem from one whose count is flat, and the two need different responses.
This is the view that turns a list into a story. A competitor who held steady for a quarter and then doubled in the last month is running something new. A competitor who has been steady the whole time is just always there. You cannot tell them apart from one capture.
Keep the rows comparable
The report filters by model, prompt type, and intent. Use the intent filter. A COMMERCIAL prompt and an INFORMATIONAL prompt are not the same auction. A rival buying into COMMERCIAL prompts is closer to your paid search world than one buying into INFORMATIONAL ones. A BRAND_SPECIFIC prompt, where someone types your name, is the row to watch closest, because that is a rival buying your own demand.
Sort by position in the response too. The top sponsored slot and the third one are not the same buy. Two rivals can appear and one of them paid for the slot above the other, and "did a rival appear" hides that.

FAQ
Does this need an OpenAI partnership?
No. Ads Radar monitors the real ChatGPT UI. No vendor has an official OpenAI ad API, and any tool claiming one is misrepresenting how it works.
Can I track one rival across all my prompts?
Yes. Filter the ad list by the advertiser's root domain and read every ad they have run on your prompt set.
