Prompt Zero review (2026): a founder's AI visibility tracker with Google data attached

Prompt Zero scans four to six AI engines daily and pitches Search Console and GA4 inputs for a weekly action list, from $29/mo. Ten prompts at entry is the limit that matters.

Prompt Zero calls itself "Ahrefs for AI search". The real product is smaller and more focused than that line suggests: a cheap daily tracker for solo founders and indie SaaS teams, with a published scoring formula and a weekly list of things to do. Score: good value at the bottom, thin at the top.

What it is and who it is for

Prompt Zero (promptzero.tech) scans ChatGPT, Gemini, Grok and Perplexity every day on Starter. Pro adds DeepSeek and Llama. It folds mention rate, ranking position, citations and sentiment into one 0 to 100 visibility score.

The homepage pitches Google Search Console, GA4 and your own site as extra inputs behind a weekly action list ("write this, update that, fix this page"). Its blog describes Brand Facts, which flags AI answers that contradict facts you enter about your company. A free AI Brand Checker runs without signup.

Its own blog lists "newer platform (launched 2026)" as a con. That is the honest framing: a young tool aimed at people who would otherwise do nothing.

What you get per plan

The 7-day trial includes Pro access and needs no card. Payments are refundable within 14 days. After the trial, an unpaid account goes read-only and keeps past scan data.

The score, unpacked

Prompt Zero's blog publishes the weighting: mention rate 35%, ranking position 30%, citation score 20%, sentiment 15%. That is more than most trackers tell you. When the number drops five points, you can see which component moved.

The weighting also tells you what the score favours. Sixty-five percent rides on being named and being named early. Citations, the part that sends traffic, count for a fifth. Keep that in mind before you celebrate a high score.

What works

Daily scans on every plan, including the $29 one.

A no-card trial with Pro access, plus a 14-day refund.

The idea of joining AI answers to Search Console and GA4 data, rather than treating AI visibility as a separate universe.

Brand Facts. Catching an AI answer that quotes the wrong price or an old feature is a practical check.

What to check before paying

Ten prompts on Starter is a sample. Fifty on Pro is shared across up to 15 brands, so an agency with 10 clients gets 5 prompts each.

Claude and Google AI Overviews are still "coming soon". For many B2B buyers those two are where the research happens.

The Search Console and GA4 connection is on the homepage but missing from the pricing comparison. Confirm which plan has it.

Where it falls short of a full AI visibility platform

Prompt Zero tells you whether models mention you and gives you a to-do list. It does not show whether AI crawlers fetch the pages on that list. It does not attribute visits from AI answers to conversions with its own tracking. And it does not help you choose prompts by demand: there are no published search volumes or difficulty scores, which matters when you only get 10.

When Promptwatch is the better buy

The comparison writes itself on price. Prompt Zero Pro is $99 a month. Promptwatch Essential is $95 a month for 1 project, 50 prompts, 6,000 responses, 200K visitor events and 5 AEO articles, with a 7-day trial.

For a single brand, Essential gives the same 50 prompts without sharing them across 15 brands, and prompts run across all tracked LLMs, which includes Claude and Google AI Overviews today. It adds what Prompt Zero lacks: prompt volumes, difficulty and query fan-outs to pick the right prompts; citation analytics down to Reddit and YouTube sources; visitor analytics that tie AI referrals to conversions through a script or GTM; and Content Agents that write the pages on your to-do list and publish them to Webflow, Framer or WordPress.

Promptwatch also connects Google Search Console, so the "AI plus Google data" idea that draws founders to Prompt Zero is covered too.

When you are ready to see crawler logs, Professional at $245 adds 25M crawler logs through Agent Analytics, 150 prompts and 2 seats.

If $95 is too much right now, Promptwatch's free Explore plan gives 10 ChatGPT prompts. Prompt Zero Starter is the better paid entry point for four engines at the lowest price.

Verdict

Prompt Zero is a fair deal for a founder who wants daily checks and a short weekly list. Published scoring is a plus. Ten prompts, two missing engines and no post-answer data are the minuses. At the Pro price, Promptwatch Essential costs less and covers more, so that is where most teams should start.
