Is ZeroRank Worth It?

ZeroRank now runs 17 AI platforms with unlimited seats, MCP and approval-gated WordPress or Webflow fixes from $39/mo. Where that is worth it, where it stops, and how it ranks against Promptwatch.

Short answer: yes, for most small teams, and the price is the reason. ZeroRank charges $39/mo for a tracker that runs any of 17 AI platforms, with unlimited prompts, countries and seats, an MCP server and a REST API. It is not the platform we rank first, because it stops at the layers that explain a citation and value it. That is where Promptwatch sits above it.

Everything here comes from zerorank.ai/pricing, its homepage, About, platform pages and changelog (latest entry 19 September 2026), all read 28 October 2026. ZeroRank repriced since August 2026, so older reviews quoting a higher Starter price and a three-engine card are out of date.

What it is now

A tracker that grew a fix layer. The tracking side runs prompts against live models and reads the answers back, with no inference from search rankings. Each prompt shows visibility, sentiment, average rank, mentions, AI volume, location and tags, on a daily, weekly, monthly or manual cadence set per prompt. The Chats view stores every answer word for word with its sources. Sources groups citations by domain and URL and labels the type (corporate, editorial, UGC, reference, institutional), with a UGC tab and gap analysis.

Prompt Research, added in July 2026, turns a topic, a competitor domain or a question into prompt ideas with estimated monthly AI search volume, Google volume where measured, a 12-month trend, and Search Console signals once connected.

The fix side is newer and moving fast. Recommendations rank on-page and off-page actions by how many tracked prompts they touch. Copilot, a chat since late August, drafts a change as a diff against the live page. Agentic Workflows run on triggers, such as an answer dropping you, and chain steps: pull the sources cited instead, score the gap, brief the content team in Slack, re-check on the next scan. Templates cover FAQ blocks, content briefs, forum replies, translations and blog posts from a YouTube video. With WordPress or Webflow connected, an approved change publishes. Nothing goes live without approval.

Scoring it

Price to coverage: strong. Starter is $39 for 2,400 answers a month. On three standard models that is about 26 prompts a day. Growth is $199 for 13,500, Agency $499 for 31,500, Enterprise custom. Higher-cost models spend more of the budget, and scheduled and manual runs share it. Our pricing breakdown works through the math.

Agency fit: good, with a question mark. Unlimited seats, up to 10 workspaces on Growth, shareable client dashboards with password protection and custom domains, branded reports by email through your own SMTP. The pricing text lists white-label, SSO and a dedicated rep on every card, but the June 2026 changelog tied white-label to a higher plan. Confirm which plan you need.

Measurement depth: limited. AI Traffic connects Google Analytics and shows sessions, engagement and conversions from ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Claude, Microsoft Copilot and others. ZeroRank is upfront that Google counts AI Overviews clicks as organic and Copilot as bing.com, so the number is a lower bound, and GA can lag up to 48 hours. The technical analysis checks robots.txt, llms.txt and what each crawler gets back. Useful, but a readiness check. Server-side crawler logs are not on its published pages, and neither are ChatGPT Shopping, sponsored-ad tracking, personas or state and city tracking.

Company: small and self-funded. Founded 2025, nine people on the About page. About says 1k+ brands; the homepage says over 4,000 experts. Treat both as marketing. The case studies (LanderLab at 4.6x AI visibility, Clickflare at 3x mentions in two months, AdPlexity) are vendor-published.

Against Promptwatch

ZeroRank wins on entry price, seat count and engine list. Promptwatch's free Explore plan covers 10 ChatGPT prompts and Essential costs $95/mo for 50 prompts and 6,000 responses on one seat. ZeroRank's approval-gated publishing also reaches Starter, while Promptwatch's automated Content Agent starts at Business ($579/mo).

Promptwatch wins on what sits under the tracking. Agent Analytics logs real ChatGPTBot, ClaudeBot, PerplexityBot, GoogleOther and Meta AI crawler visits from your CDN, with a crawl-to-citation path, from Professional ($245/mo) and on every agency plan. Visitor analytics use Promptwatch's own script or GTM template and record conversions. Business adds ChatGPT Shopping, Ads Radar and city tracking. Prompts carry volumes, difficulty, query fan-outs and personas.

Verdict

Worth it as a tracker: clearly yes. Few tools give a small team this much engine coverage and seat freedom for $39. Worth it for an agency: yes on Growth, once you confirm white-label. Worth it as the system that proves AI search pays: not on its own. When the budget owner asks whether bots can reach your pages and what AI visits convert into, use Promptwatch, starting with Explore and a Professional trial.
