Nennbar review (2026): a DACH tracker that weights engines by local reach
Nennbar asks German B2B buying questions from Germany, Austria or Switzerland, from €32.50/mo annual excl. VAT. We test its reach-weighted score, the weekly cadence and the €29 one-off check.
Nennbar is an AI visibility tracker built for Germany, Austria and Switzerland. It asks typical B2B buying questions in German, measured from a DACH location, and labels each answer as mentioned, not mentioned or misrepresented. LEA Software UG (haftungsbeschränkt) runs it on servers in Frankfurt am Main.
Two design choices set it apart on our board. The score weights each engine by its estimated reach in DACH. And it checks the German sources that models cite, the ones English-first tools tend to miss.
The reach-weighted score
Nennbar does not treat engines equally. Its weights: ChatGPT 38, Google AI Overviews 19, Gemini 14, Copilot 12, Perplexity 6, AI Mode 5, Claude 4, Mistral 2. A miss on ChatGPT costs you far more than a miss on Mistral.
That is a defensible model for a regional buyer. The weights are Nennbar's own estimates, so treat them as an opinion, but at least the opinion is published.
The source checks are the other half. Nennbar flags when answers cite Wer liefert was, Kununu, North Data, Handelsblatt, Heise or German Wikipedia. It also checks whether your brand has a findable profile on wlw.de, kununu.com and northdata.de. For a German industrial supplier, a missing WLW profile is a practical, fixable reason for being left out.

Extra questions cost €49 for 25 or €99 for 100 a month. Annual billing gives two months free. The €29 check is credited to Pro if you upgrade within 30 days, and subscriptions carry a 14-day satisfaction guarantee. Austrian customers get reverse charge; Swiss customers are invoiced without German VAT.
A free live scan asks five buying questions, about 21 queries, across ChatGPT and Gemini (in their web interfaces for Germany), Perplexity and Claude.
What works
The German-first design is the reason to buy. Questions come from your site and from Google search demand in the chosen market, and each report says which search a question is based on. Competitors are detected from the answers, and you can hide companies that are not real rivals.
Pro is generous on features. All eight engines with no surcharge, unlimited seats, REST API, MCP, sentiment and false-statement checks against your own site's facts, with alerts after each run. The action plan comes with ready Schema.org code and robots.txt and llms.txt advice.
The cookie-free AI-traffic beacon counts visits from ChatGPT, Perplexity and Claude. Privacy-minded German buyers will like that.
What to check before paying
Cadence. The homepage says Pro is "updated daily". The llms.txt and FAQ clarify that monitoring runs daily but each question is measured once a week. Start measures each question every two weeks. Read "daily" as "something runs every day".
Noise. Each question is asked once per engine per measurement. Nennbar's own study says only about half of vendors are named again after a week. One answer per engine per week is a thin sample on a volatile signal.
Sample size. 50 questions on Pro is small for one market.
Crawlers. The beacon counts human visits. No crawler-log analysis is described.
Reach outside DACH. US and UK are in beta, China is a pilot on Business.
Where it falls short of a full platform
Nennbar tells you whether you were named this week and which German source the model leaned on. It cannot tell you whether the ChatGPT or Perplexity crawler has read the page you just fixed, or whether those bots hit errors. It counts AI visits but does not tie them to conversions. The measurement loop stays open at both ends.
When Promptwatch is the better buy
For a one-off diagnosis, buy the €29 check. For a program you will run every month, Promptwatch Professional is the stronger base.
Professional costs $245 a month (prices also available in EUR): 2 projects, 150 prompts, 18,000 responses, 1M visitor events, 25M crawler logs, 15 AEO articles and 2 seats. Prompts refresh daily. That is three times Nennbar Pro's question count. Country-level tracking is on every plan, and Professional adds state and city tracking for teams that sell regionally.
Agent Analytics is the piece Nennbar leaves out. Real-time logs for ChatGPTBot, ClaudeBot, PerplexityBot, GoogleOther and the Meta AI crawler, with the crawl-to-citation path and error tracking. Visitor analytics ties AI-referred visits to conversions. Citation analytics breaks out page, domain, Reddit, YouTube and offsite mentions, so a cited directory like WLW or Kununu becomes a domain you can trend over months.
Promptwatch's engine list also includes Mistral, alongside ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Perplexity, Grok, Llama, DeepSeek and Copilot, plus Google AI Overviews and AI Mode.
Verdict
Rank: best regional design in DACH, limited sample. Nennbar's reach weighting and source checks show real thought about German B2B buying. A weekly single run on 50 questions shows direction, not much more. Start with the €29 check, then run the ongoing program on Promptwatch Professional.
