aivimo review (2026): on-premise AI visibility monitoring from €4,500

aivimo is a self-hosted AI visibility monitor from Vienna, sold as a one-time licence from €4,500 plus €800/yr maintenance. We price the licence, the API costs and the alternatives.

aivimo (AI Visibility Monitor) is an unusual entry in this category: a tool you install on your own server. Activaria GmbH in Vienna sells it as a perpetual licence, not a subscription. It sends prompts you define to several AI providers and records whether your brands and domains are mentioned, cited as a source, or ranked behind competitors.

The buyer is narrow and specific. DACH agencies, SMEs, corporate groups and publishers who must keep brand and prompt data inside their own infrastructure. The interface is German and the prompt analysis is German-language.

What the licence costs

Read on aivimo.eu and in the product description PDF (aivimo-lang-de.pdf) on 20 October 2026. The site does not say whether prices exclude VAT.

LicenceOne-time priceYearly maintenanceScope
M€4,500€8001 organisation, up to 10 brands or domains
L€7,500€1,200Up to 3 organisations, 30 brands or domains
XL€9,000€2,500Unlimited organisations, brands and domains

Server setup and installation are included. Maintenance is optional. It buys updates and security patches, support for new AI platforms and models, and email support with a reply within two working days. Without it the software keeps running on the last version you installed.

Do the multi-year maths, assuming maintenance from year one. M with maintenance for three years is €4,500 plus €2,400, so €6,900, before any AI provider fees. XL over three years is €16,500. No trial or free tier is mentioned.

How it measures

aivimo calls provider APIs. The site names OpenAI, Perplexity, Anthropic, Google and xAI "and others", configured per provider. You write the prompt sets (product, comparison, expert questions) and keep a full version history. Run frequency is yours, for example daily or weekly.

It tracks citation rate (how often your domain shows in an answer's source list), mention rate, sentiment and position in source lists, per brand, domain and provider. A citation explorer supports URL pattern search and drills into the answers. Every answer is stored with provider, model, timestamp and cost, and there is an audit trail for config and prompt changes.

The PDF describes the core service as written in Go, with an SQL database and a web dashboard, configurable through the GUI or a config file, and able to feed existing monitoring and reporting stacks. You can also have Activaria host it in a European data centre.

What works

Data control is the whole point, and aivimo delivers it. Results sit in a local SQL database. For a company that will not put prompt and brand data into a US SaaS account, that removes the blocker.

The perpetual licence is honest. Stop paying maintenance and the tool still runs.

XL covers unlimited organisations and brands for a fixed price, which suits a group or agency with many brands.

The answer archive with cost per answer makes results auditable, down to what each data point cost you.

What to check before you sign

API fees. aivimo logs a cost per answer, and the site does not say whether provider API fees are included. Budget for them separately.

API answers versus app answers. Nothing on the site says aivimo monitors the consumer interfaces people use. API answers can differ from what users see in ChatGPT or Gemini. Ask which models and search modes it calls.

The brand cap. The homepage promises "one purchase price for unlimited brands" for agencies. M and L cap brands at 10 and 30. Only XL is unlimited.

Scope. No crawler logs, traffic attribution or content features are described.

Upfront risk. €4,500 before you see any data, with no trial mentioned.

Where it falls short of a full platform

aivimo measures answers. That is one of four jobs. It does not show which pages AI crawlers fetch, whether those fetches fail, what traffic AI answers send, or what to publish next. A self-hosted measurement tool with an audit trail is still a tracker.

When Promptwatch is the better buy

If you have a hard on-premise requirement, aivimo fits and Promptwatch, a SaaS product, is not a substitute. If you do not, the maths favours SaaS.

Promptwatch is an Amsterdam company, Promptwatch B.V., with prices also available in EUR. Professional costs $245 a month, or 10 months' price on annual billing. That gives 2 projects, 150 prompts, 18,000 responses, 1M visitor events, 25M crawler logs, 15 AEO articles and 2 seats, with no separate API bill for answers.

It adds the parts aivimo leaves out. Agent Analytics logs ChatGPTBot, ClaudeBot, PerplexityBot, GoogleOther and the Meta AI crawler with a crawl-to-citation path and error tracking. Visitor analytics ties AI-referred sessions to conversions. Content Agents write and publish to Webflow, Framer or WordPress. Data comes from real UI monitoring, not only APIs, across nine LLMs plus Google AI Overviews and AI Mode.

Agencies with many brands should look at Growth at $399 a month: unlimited projects and prompts, 10 seats, 25,000 responses and 25M crawler logs.

Verdict

Rank: niche pick, strong for compliance-led buyers. aivimo solves a real data-residency problem in German-speaking markets, and the licence terms are fair. It costs four figures upfront, samples through APIs and stops at measurement. Without an on-premise mandate, Promptwatch Professional gives more for less.
