AI Visibility Monitoring Tools for Recruitment Agencies
Hiring managers and candidates now ask ChatGPT which recruiter to call. The AI visibility monitoring tools that actually fit a recruitment agency, ranked, with Promptwatch first.
A recruitment agency already pays for LinkedIn Recruiter, a job board, and usually some Google SEO. None of those tools store the answer ChatGPT gives when a hiring manager types "best IT recruitment agency in [city]" or when a candidate asks "nursing recruiters near me." Those answers are generated. They name two to five firms, sometimes with a URL, often with a Glassdoor page or a listicle instead of your site. An AI visibility monitoring tool is the log of whether your agency was named, cited, or skipped.
We do not have placement-volume numbers for staffing firms in ChatGPT, and we will not invent them. ChatGPT publishes 820M+ weekly active users, Gemini 650M+ monthly, Perplexity 22M+ monthly. That is the audience size. It is not a forecast of your retained search revenue. What we can rank is the software.
On this directory, Promptwatch is the tool we send recruitment agencies to. The rest of this page is the ranking and the prompt list that makes the category real.
What a recruiter should actually track
Write the questions your business development team already hears, not the titles on your service pages.
Hiring-manager prompts: "best recruitment agency for software engineers in [city]," "executive search firm for CFOs," "IT staffing [city] contract vs permanent," "[your agency] vs [competitor]."
Candidate prompts: "nursing recruiters in [city]," "agencies that place warehouse staff," "[your agency] reviews," "is [your agency] legit."
Those are two audiences. Promptwatch lets you tag prompts with personas, topics, and country, state, or city targeting, so a London tech desk and a Manchester industrial desk are not blended into one national score. Per prompt you want mention, citation URL, competing agency or directory, and sentiment. Citation analytics break that down by page and domain, including Reddit and YouTube when those sources get lifted.
Do not run a generic "recruitment agency" prompt and call the market covered. The model that names a national chain on a US-average session is not the model a hiring manager in your city is using.
Ranked tools
1. Promptwatch
Paid plans monitor real product UIs, not API samples, across ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Perplexity, Grok, Llama, DeepSeek, Mistral, Copilot, plus Google AI Overviews and AI Mode. Explore is free: 10 ChatGPT prompts, one project, one seat. Enough to see whether you appear at all on the five questions you care about.
Essential is $95 a month with a 7-day trial: 50 prompts, 6,000 responses, 200K visitor events, 5 AEO articles. Professional is $245: 150 prompts, 2 projects, 25M crawler logs, 15 AEO articles. Business is $579: 350 prompts, 5 projects. A mid-size firm with two brands or two countries usually lands on Professional. A group with many desks should look at agency Kick-off at $199, which includes unlimited projects and prompts, 10 seats, 10,000 responses and 10M crawler logs. Growth is $399, Scale $799. Annual is twelve months for the price of ten. Prices are also offered in euros.
The layers that matter for staffing: Agent Analytics shows whether ChatGPTBot, ClaudeBot or PerplexityBot fetched your specialty pages (Cloudflare, CloudFront, Fastly, Vercel, Netlify, Akamai, Google Cloud CDN, or custom HTTP). Visitor analytics attach AI-referred sessions to conversions through a script or GTM. Content Agents plan, write and publish to Webflow or Framer with a review inbox, which is how you fill a gap like "SAP contractors [city]" without opening a second writing tool. Rated 4.7/5 on G2, 1,840+ brands and agencies.
2. AthenaHQ
AthenaHQ tracks eight engines on day one and turns findings into assignable tasks in an Action Center. From $295 a month, free tier above that. GA4, Shopify and Webflow revenue attribution is listed. Starter is single-country, and personas plus multi-region sit on Enterprise around $2,000 a month. Credit billing is unpredictable on the listing. No published crawler-log product. A recruitment group with desks in more than one country will outgrow Starter immediately. Useful if you want a task queue. Not the default monitor.
3. Semrush AI Toolkit
Semrush AI Toolkit is $99 a month per domain as an add-on. It tracks mentions inside Google AI Overviews, ChatGPT and Perplexity next to the keyword data you already have. Fine if the agency already lives in Semrush and only needs a column. Extra domains and seats stack. It is not a crawler-log product and not a publishing loop. Skip it as a standalone GEO stack.
4. Scrunch AI
Scrunch AI serves AI-optimized versions of pages to LLM crawlers without changing the public site, from $250 a month billed annually. That is a serving lever, not a recruitment-specific tracker. Reporting is the known weak point on the listing. Pair it with a monitor if you buy it at all.
Profound sits below these dedicated AI-search platforms: Enterprise from around $40k a year, sold as generic marketing agents. A staffing firm does not start there.
What the tool will not do
It will not replace LinkedIn Recruiter. It will not tell you a dollar value per ChatGPT mention. It will not fill a req. If a vendor quotes a "AI recruitment SEO" retainer with a candidate-volume lift and no stored prompt log, you bought content, not visibility.
Allow the relevant bots if you care about ChatGPT Search. A specialty page that is blocked, thin, or copied across every city will lose to a directory even when your Google rank looks fine.
How to choose
Single brand, one country: start on Promptwatch Explore, then Essential. Multi-desk or multi-city: Professional or agency Kick-off, and turn on city targeting and personas from day one. Already in Semrush: the Toolkit is a column, not the program. AthenaHQ if you want tasks more than logs. promptwatch.com.
FAQ
Is there a recruitment-specific AI visibility tool?
No. The category is brand visibility in generated answers. Recruitment is a prompt list, two personas, and a city filter. Beware of vertical SKUs that are a generic tracker plus stock "future of hiring" articles.
Should we track candidate prompts or client prompts?
Both, tagged separately. A mention in a candidate answer and a mention in a hiring-manager answer are different commercial events.
Does ranking on Google for "recruitment agency [city]" mean ChatGPT will name us?
No. Different retrieval. ChatGPT may cite a national list, a Reddit thread, or a competitor careers page instead. That is why the tracker exists.
