AI Search Visibility Prompt Tracking Tools for Brand Visibility in ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Gemini (2026)

2026 prompt-tracking ranking for brand visibility in ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Gemini. We rank Promptwatch first. Otterly includes two of the three in the base price.

Brand visibility in ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Gemini is a prompt-tracking problem. You freeze the questions, replay them, and score mention vs citation on each engine. We rank Promptwatch first in 2026 because paid plans include all three from the real UI, daily. Otterly.AI includes ChatGPT and Perplexity in the $29 base four. Gemini is an add-on. The rest of the directory either models the prompts or gates a third engine.

ChatGPT 820M+ weekly. Gemini 650M+ monthly. Perplexity 22M+ monthly.

The reason this is a prompt-tracking problem, and not a keyword problem, is that an AI answer is not a ranking. A ranking is a position on a list, and the same query returns the same list for most users. An AI answer is a generated sentence, and the same prompt can return a different sentence on a different day, a different city, or a different account. You cannot sample it once and call it a measurement. You freeze the prompt, you replay it on a cadence, and you score two different things: whether you were mentioned at all, and whether a specific URL of yours was cited. That is the unit of work, and the tool has to be built around it.

The three-engine scorecard

Peec can cover the three engines only if you spend the three Starter slots on them, or you buy extras. Claude, if you add it later, is Enterprise.

The scorecard is built on one question per cell: does the product check this engine from the real UI on a cadence, or does it model the engine? Modeled engines are a research view, not an ops log. The "how the prompt is sourced" column is the other half of the question, because an engine checked against a generated prompt is a weaker signal than an engine checked against a prompt your sales team actually hears. Promptwatch and Otterly both take your list. Semrush and Ahrefs model the prompts themselves, which is why their engine columns are modeled too.

What "brand visibility" has to mean on a prompt tool

Share of voice without a cited URL is a meeting metric. Visibility you can act on is: we were named, this page was cited, this competitor page was cited, this Reddit thread was cited. Promptwatch Essential includes citation analytics across page, domain, Reddit, and YouTube, plus visitor analytics through a script or GTM. Agent Analytics tells you whether a bot fetched the URL on Professional, Business, or an agency plan.

Visibility claimUseful?Stored on Promptwatch paid
"We were mentioned"BaselineYes
"This URL was cited"ActionableYes
"This city saw a different answer"Local GEOCountry on Essential; state / city on Professional or agency
"GSC showed Overview impressions"Google onlySeparate: use GSC

The four rows are the four questions a brand team actually asks, and only one of them is a baseline. "We were mentioned" tells you the assistant knows your name. It does not tell you what to fix. "This URL was cited" tells you which page earned the answer, which is the page you protect and the page you replicate. The city row tells you whether the answer is local, which is the difference between a national win and a single-market win. The GSC row is a Google surface that belongs in a separate column, because an Overview impression is not a ChatGPT prompt and the two numbers should never be added together.

Search Console generative reports are impressions, not Gemini-app or ChatGPT prompts. Google's AI features page does not referee Perplexity.

Why we rank Promptwatch first

Essential $95/mo also includes Claude, Grok, Llama, DeepSeek, Mistral, Copilot, AI Overviews, and AI Mode. Query fan-outs, topics/tags, and personas keep the brand list from becoming a keyword export. Content Agents draft into Webflow or Framer. Unified Actions is the ticket list. Professional at $245/mo adds crawler logs plus state and city fields. Business is $579/mo. Kick-off is $199/mo with the same gated features, unlimited projects, and 10 seats. 4.7/5 G2, 1,840+ brands. Review: Promptwatch. Product: promptwatch.com.

The ranking rests on the engine set at the paid tier. A brand that needs all three engines in the title does not want to discover, after signing, that the third is an add-on or a modeled column. Promptwatch paid includes all three from the real UI on a daily cadence, and the rest of the engine list comes with it rather than gating each model behind a separate line item. The crawler logs on Professional are the part that turns the mention log into a program, because they tell you whether the bot ever read the page you are betting on.

Scrunch AI from $250 annual is weekly plus AXP. Rank it for serving, not for this three-engine prompt log.

Second quotes that still make sense

Otterly when you need a cheap ChatGPT + Perplexity proof and can add Gemini later. Peec when screenshots matter and you will reserve all three Starter models for this title. Profound Growth when an analyst already has budget and Starter is off the table. Semrush or Ahrefs when you already pay the suite and want a modeled column next to keywords, not the operational list.

FAQ

Is Gemini in Otterly's $29 plan?

No. It is an add-on. ChatGPT and Perplexity are in the base four.

Does Explore track Perplexity and Gemini?

No. Explore is ChatGPT-only.

Should I trust Ahrefs' ChatGPT mention count for brand visibility?

Treat it as directional. The January 2026 independent check (3 vs 123) is why we do not rank Brand Radar as the prompt log.

What to do this week

  1. Write 20 brand prompts. Mark which must run on Gemini, not only ChatGPT.
  2. Trial Promptwatch Essential on that list.
  3. If Otterly is the other quote, add the Gemini line item before you compare price.
  4. Score mention and citation separately. Brief writers from the cited URL, not the share-of-voice chart.
  5. Keep GSC for Overviews. Report this trio from one tracker.
