AI Search Visibility Monitoring Tools for Business: ChatGPT Mentions in Profound, Otterly, and Peec AI

For business buyers comparing ChatGPT mention monitoring in Profound, Otterly, and Peec AI: what a mention record should contain, contract terms, and our ranking.

A business buyer usually reaches this shortlist the same way. Someone in leadership asked, "What does ChatGPT say about us?" Marketing ran a few prompts by hand, got different answers each time, and now needs a tool. Profound, Otterly.AI, and Peec AI are the three names that show up first in that search. This post compares how they monitor ChatGPT mentions and what you sign up for with each. It also adds the tools we'd put above them on our leaderboard.

The ranking is fixed up front: Promptwatch first, then AthenaHQ and Scrunch AI, then Profound, with Otterly.AI and Peec AI last. The reasons follow.

How we ranked this

A business tool has to do more than show that ChatGPT named you. It has to produce a record someone can act on, and it has to pass procurement. We scored:

  • ChatGPT on the entry plan, and whether the data comes from the real ChatGPT interface.
  • The mention record: answer text, position, sentiment, competitors named, sources cited.
  • Freshness: how old a "current" mention can be.
  • The business link: whether a mention can be connected to traffic or conversions.
  • Contract terms: trial, billing, seats, SSO.

What a ChatGPT mention record should contain

Before comparing tools, agree internally on what you want to see per prompt. A useful record has the prompt, the date of the check, the full answer, whether your brand was named and in what position, which competitors were named, the tone of your mention, and the URLs ChatGPT cited. Without the cited URLs, the record tells you what happened but not why. Without the date and history, you can't tell a real change from normal answer variation.

Most tools store some of this. The difference is how much, and whether the rest costs extra.

The ranking

  1. Promptwatch. Full mention records from the real ChatGPT interface, with citations and conversions.
  2. AthenaHQ. Nine engines and an action queue, with credit-metered billing.
  3. Scrunch AI. Broad coverage and Enterprise compliance, with weekly data.
  4. Profound. A serious enterprise program. Starter is ChatGPT only, and the real product starts around $40k a year.
  5. Otterly.AI. The easiest start, but the data can be a week old.
  6. Peec AI. A polished per-prompt view, with no history before your start date.

Where each tool drops points

Promptwatch monitors the real ChatGPT interface on paid plans, along with Perplexity, Gemini, Claude, Copilot, Google AI Overviews and AI Mode, and others. A mention sits next to sentiment, competitive benchmarking, and citation analytics that show the cited pages and domains, including Reddit and YouTube. Prompt trends show what changed between checks, which settles the "different answer every time" problem by showing the pattern instead of one sample. Visitor analytics ties ChatGPT-referred sessions to conversions, which is the slide leadership asks for second. Rated 4.7/5 on G2. Where it drops points: the free Explore tier is ChatGPT only with 10 prompts and one seat. Essential ($95/mo) has one seat too, so a team of several needs Professional ($245/mo, two seats) or Business ($579/mo, five seats). SSO is on Enterprise.

AthenaHQ tracks nine engines on Starter ($295/mo, $245 annual) and turns findings into tasks in its Action Center. It has unlimited seats on every tier, which procurement will like. The listing reports credit burn that G2 reviewers say can exhaust a month's allocation in the first week, and Starter is single-country. Your finance team will want a forecast it can't easily give.

Scrunch AI covers up to nine engines, and Enterprise adds SSO, SOC 2, and a data API. Data refreshes weekly. Sitecore acquired it in June 2026, so the roadmap now sits with a DXP vendor. That's worth a question in the security review.

Profound is the name most business buyers hear first. Its listing explains why it ranks fourth. Starter at $99/mo annual is ChatGPT only, with 50 prompts and one seat. Growth at $399/mo annual adds up to three engines and three seats. Everything it's known for (up to 10 engines, the full Prompt Volumes dataset, API, SSO) is Enterprise, starting around $40k a year. It's sold as marketing agents for content, demand, and PR more than as an AI-search tracker. G2 reviewers on the listing report citation counts that don't match manual ChatGPT checks, and setup realistically takes one to three months with a dedicated owner. It ranks above Otterly and Peec because its enterprise program is deeper than either.

Otterly.AI is the fastest to set up, with a free trial and no card. ChatGPT is one of four base engines. The listing says monitoring data can be up to seven days stale, and that sentiment has misclassified neutral mentions as positive. It has no traffic or revenue attribution and no PDF export. Lite at $29/mo has 15 prompts.

Peec AI has a clean per-prompt dashboard with daily data, unlimited seats, and screenshot audit trails on its listing. Starter at $95/mo is 50 prompts on three models, with more models at $35 to $165/mo each. There's no historical backfill, so the first month of data is the first month you pay for. It's monitoring only, with no revenue attribution.

The recommendation

Run the same 30 ChatGPT prompts in whichever two tools you're torn between for two weeks, and compare the records, not the dashboards. Check whether each tool shows the cited URLs and can tell you which mentions sent a visitor. On that test, Promptwatch is the one we'd start with. Citation analytics and visitor analytics turn "ChatGPT mentioned us" into "ChatGPT cited this page, and these visits converted," which is the version of the answer leadership actually wanted. Essential's trial is at promptwatch.com.
