AEO Tools for Answer Engine Optimization: Profound, Peec AI, Otterly, Scrunch (Official)

Official sites, plans and published prices for Profound, Peec AI, Otterly and Scrunch, ranked against Promptwatch for answer engine optimization work.

People who add "official" to an AEO tools search usually want to skip the summary and see what each vendor puts on its own site. The URL. The plan names. The price. Fair enough. This page gives that for the four names in the query, plus the one we rank first, and then says how we would order them for actual answer engine optimization work.

One note before the list. The title keeps the order people search in. Our ranking does not follow it. In the directory, Promptwatch is first, Scrunch AI second, Profound third, and Otterly.AI and Peec AI sit at the bottom.

What an AEO tool should do

Answer engine optimization has two halves. The first is measurement: what ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini or Google AI Overviews say when someone asks a question your product should answer, and which pages they cite while saying it. The second half is the work that changes the answer. AI crawlers have to be able to read your pages. Somebody has to publish the content that fills the gap. And someone should check whether the visits that come back from those answers turn into revenue.

Most products sold as AEO tools do the first half. That is useful, and it is also where most comparisons stop, which is how teams end up with a dashboard of mention rates and no idea what to fix. When you read the official pages below, check which half each vendor is actually selling.

The official listings, ranked

1. Promptwatch

Official site: promptwatch.com. It describes itself as an AI search visibility and generative engine optimization platform, built around agents that monitor, optimize and publish instead of only reporting.

Published brand pricing: Explore is free (10 prompts, ChatGPT only, one project). Essential is $95 a month with a 7-day trial and includes 50 prompts, 6,000 responses, 200K visitor events and 5 AEO articles. Professional is $245 a month and is the first brand plan with crawler logs (25M), alongside 150 prompts and 15 AEO articles. Business is $579. Agencies get their own self-serve plans from $199 a month. Annual billing charges ten months for twelve.

For AEO specifically, the product covers prompt tracking with search volumes, difficulty scores and query fan-outs; citation analytics down to the page, with separate Reddit and YouTube views; Agent Analytics, which logs AI crawlers such as ChatGPTBot, ClaudeBot and PerplexityBot on your site; visitor analytics that tie AI-referred sessions to conversions; and Content Agents that draft and publish to Webflow or Framer through a review inbox. Monitoring reads the real interfaces of ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Perplexity, Grok, Copilot and others, plus Google AI Overviews and AI Mode.

That second half is why it ranks first. A tracker tells you the answer changed. Promptwatch can show whether the bot fetched the page, which page got cited, and whether the resulting visit signed up.

2. Scrunch AI

Official site: scrunchai.com. Scrunch pairs visibility monitoring with what it calls an Agent Experience Platform, which serves an AI-optimized version of your pages to crawlers without changing the public site.

Published pricing in our listing: Starter is $250 a month billed annually ($300 monthly) with 3 seats, 350 custom prompts and 1,000 industry prompts. Growth is $417 a month annually ($500 monthly). Enterprise is custom, and that is where the Agent Experience Platform runs at scale, with SSO and a data API.

Of the four names in the query, Scrunch is the one that tries to change what crawlers see instead of only reporting on it. That earns second place. Two caveats. Prompt credits are consumed per engine, so tracking many engines drains the allowance faster than the headline number suggests. And Sitecore acquired Scrunch in June 2026, so the roadmap now sits with a DXP vendor. Review: Scrunch AI.

3. Profound

Official site: tryprofound.com. Profound now sells marketing agents for AEO, content, demand and PR. AI search is one channel inside that package.

Published pricing: Starter is $99 a month billed annually, ChatGPT only, 50 prompts, one seat. Growth is $399 a month annually for 3 engines, 100 prompts and 3 seats, with a 7-day trial. Enterprise is custom and starts around $40k a year. That tier is where up to 10 engines, the full Prompt Volumes dataset, the API and SSO live.

The gap between Starter and Enterprise is what to understand here. The capabilities people associate with the brand are on the contract tier, so a team buying Starter for AEO gets one engine. Our listing found no published crawler-log product and no published visitor conversion analytics. Review: Profound.

4. Otterly.AI

Official site: otterly.ai. A standalone tracker with a GEO audit that grades 25+ on-page factors. Lite is $29 a month ($25 annual) for 15 prompts on four base engines: ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity and Copilot. Gemini, Claude and AI Mode are add-ons at $9 to $149 a month. Standard is $189 and Premium $489. Monitoring data can be up to seven days old. Review: Otterly.AI.

5. Peec AI

Official site: peec.ai. Prompt-level visibility tracking. Starter is $95 a month for 50 prompts, 3 models and one project, with unlimited seats. Each extra model costs $35 to $165 a month. Agency starts at $245 and Enterprise is custom, which is also where Claude and DeepSeek tracking sit. Monitoring only. Review: Peec AI.

The same budget, five different products

Put roughly $100 a month on the table and the official listings give you very different things. Peec Starter buys 50 prompts across three models. Profound Starter buys 50 prompts on ChatGPT alone, billed for a year up front. Otterly at that budget means Lite plus engine add-ons. Promptwatch Essential buys 50 prompts on paid multi-engine monitoring, and its 200K visitor events and five AEO articles already reach past measurement.

Around $250 to $300, the real comparison is Scrunch Starter against Promptwatch Professional. Scrunch gives you more prompts (350 custom). Promptwatch gives you 25M crawler log lines tied to prompts and citations, page-level citation reports, visitor conversions and 15 articles a month. If the problem on your team is "we don't know why we aren't cited," the logs answer it and a bigger prompt count does not.

Which one to test first

Use the official pages to confirm plan limits. Then run a short test of your own. Write 20 questions a buyer would ask an assistant before choosing a product like yours. Run them by hand in ChatGPT and Perplexity, and note who gets named and which URL gets cited. Load the same 20 into whichever tool you are evaluating and compare.

We would start that test on Promptwatch, because it is the only one of the five that lets you follow a single prompt from the answer to the citation to the crawl to the visit. If a page you care about is never cited, Agent Analytics shows whether an AI crawler ever fetched it. If it is cited, visitor analytics show whether the referral bought anything. Then hold the others in the ranking up against that baseline.
