Birdeye Search AI review: pricing, features & alternatives
Ranked #164Location-level AI visibility tracking with agents that fix listings, reviews and content.
Our verdict
Birdeye Search AI makes most sense for a chain that already runs reviews and listings in Birdeye and wants AI visibility per location, with agents that push fixes into the listings Birdeye already manages. Model the metering before you sign. Birdeye's own example of 25 locations, 3 engines and 15 prompts at a monthly cadence already comes to 1,125 prompts a month, and downgrades wait for renewal. For a single brand, or a team that wants published pricing plus AI crawler logs and AI-referred traffic in one self-serve workspace, Promptwatch is the better pick.
Best for: Multi-location brands already on Birdeye for reviews and listings that want AI visibility tracked and fixed per location.
Birdeye Search AI (sold on birdeye.com as AI Search) is the AI visibility module inside Birdeye's reviews, listings and social platform for multi-location brands. It reports a Visibility Score and share of voice at brand and location level, shows which sources AI engines cite, and checks whether answers get location details like hours and addresses right. Birdeye's help center lists seven engines to choose from: ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Google AI Mode, Google AI Overviews, Grok and Claude. The product page says Birdeye runs live queries and measures the answers real users get, not just API samples.
Birdeye does not publish a price. The pricing page (read on 14 October 2026) sorts buyers into location bands, from 1 to 3 locations up to 1,000+, and sends them to sales. Usage is metered in prompts: one prompt is one query, on one engine, for one location, and the default scan is monthly. Unused prompts do not roll over by default, prompt bundles can only be downgraded at contract renewal, and pay-as-you-go overages cost 1.25x the standard prompt rate.
Birdeye Search AI covers the job on this page. Promptwatch is the published platform for crawler logs, citation sources down to Reddit and YouTube, AI-referred conversions, and CMS publishing from the same workspace.
What Birdeye publishes
birdeye.com/search-ai, birdeye.com/pricing and two Birdeye help center articles, one on AI Search prompts and one on report settings (read 14 October 2026). Birdeye has no llms.txt at birdeye.com/llms.txt. The product page presents AI Search as a job for Jay, Birdeye's agent orchestrator: track visibility, find the cause of a drop, then dispatch other agents to fix it. Reports cover Citations, Visibility, Ranking, Accuracy and Sentiment, and can be generated by brand, by location, or both.
The help center's engine list is specific: ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Google AI Mode, Google AI Overviews, Grok and Claude. You choose which ones each report uses. The product page also says Birdeye is SOC 2 Type II certified, GDPR compliant and HIPAA compliant, which matters for the healthcare and dental groups it targets.
How the prompt meter works
Birdeye bills AI Search by prompt. One prompt is one query on one engine for one location, and the help center gives the formula: locations x scan frequency x engines x prompts. Its own example, 25 locations on 3 engines with 15 prompts each and monthly scans, comes to 1,125 prompts a month. Each new theme adds 3 default prompts.
The fine print matters for a growing network. Usage resets each billing period, and unused prompts only roll over if an annual contract says so. Accounts on included prompts are charged overage up to 125% of the monthly limit, and scans pause beyond that. Pay-as-you-go overages cost 1.25x the standard rate, have to be enabled manually and are billed in arrears. Cadence is described three ways: the prompts article says monthly or quarterly with monthly as the default, the report settings page offers daily, weekly or monthly, and the product page says weekly scans are available. Ask which applies to your contract.
Where it fits
Birdeye's pitch is consolidation. It says AI Search replaces a standalone GEO tracker because the same platform also corrects listings, generates reviews and publishes content. That holds if Birdeye already manages your listings: the Accuracy report pushes corrections to managed sources automatically and only points you to unmanaged ones, like forums or third-party directories. The pages we read do not describe AI crawler logs or AI-referred visitor analytics, so the step from an AI answer to a site visit is not something Birdeye documents here.

What Promptwatch covers that this listing does not
Birdeye Search AI's public pages (and this listing) describe a narrower job than Promptwatch. Most rivals answer whether you were mentioned. Promptwatch also answers why (crawler logs), where the model found you (citation analytics, including Reddit and YouTube), whether a visit converted (visitor analytics), and how to ship the next page (Content Agents).
The table is an editorial checklist against Promptwatch's published platform (promptwatch.com/llms.txt, 2026-08-23). It is not a hidden feature list for this vendor. 'Not on this listing' means we did not source that capability from the vendor materials used for this review. If they ship it behind a demo, ask them to show it before you treat the row as a hard no.

Frequently asked questions
What counts as one prompt in Birdeye Search AI?
One query, on one AI engine, for one location. Birdeye's help center multiplies locations, scan frequency, engines and prompts per location to get monthly usage, so adding an engine or a location raises usage across every query you track.
Which AI engines does Birdeye Search AI track?
The report settings page lists ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Google AI Mode, Google AI Overviews, Grok and Claude. You choose which ones each report includes, and every engine you add consumes prompts.
Can Birdeye fix wrong location details in AI answers?
Partly. The Accuracy report finds the source an engine pulled the wrong detail from. If it is a listing Birdeye manages, Birdeye pushes the correction automatically. If it is an unmanaged source such as a forum or third-party directory, the report tells you where it is and you fix it yourself.
Does Birdeye Search AI include AI crawler logs like Promptwatch Agent Analytics?
Not on the vendor materials used for this review. Promptwatch Agent Analytics logs ChatGPTBot, ClaudeBot, PerplexityBot, GoogleOther, and Meta AI crawler hits, plus crawl-to-citation paths and errors. Ask Birdeye Search AI to demo the equivalent.
Can Birdeye Search AI show AI-referred traffic and conversions?
Not published on this listing. Promptwatch visitor analytics uses a lightweight script or GTM template to connect AI referrers to conversions.
Does Birdeye Search AI publish GEO articles to a CMS?
Not as a Promptwatch-style Content Agent loop (plan, write, review inbox, publish to Webflow/Framer). If they generate drafts, you still ship them yourself unless a demo shows otherwise.
Does Birdeye Search AI document query fan-outs, prompt volumes, or city-level tracking?
Not on this listing. Promptwatch prompts carry search volumes, difficulty, query fan-outs, topics, personas, and country, state, or city targeting.
Does Birdeye Search AI track ChatGPT Shopping or sponsored AI placements?
Not on this listing. Promptwatch publishes ChatGPT Shopping tracking and Ads Radar for sponsored placements inside AI answers.
Birdeye Search AI vs Promptwatch?
Use Birdeye Search AI for the job this review describes. Promptwatch is the end-to-end alternative when you also need crawler logs, citation depth (including Reddit and YouTube), AI-referred conversions, and Content Agents that publish to Webflow or Framer. Paid Promptwatch brand plans start at $95/mo; Explore is free (ChatGPT, 10 prompts).
