Promptwatch vs Profound vs Otterly.AI vs Peec AI: Which GEO Tool Wins in 2026?

Four-way 2026 comparison of Promptwatch, Profound, Otterly.AI, and Peec AI on engines, sticker vs real price, crawler logs, and who should pick which.

Most GEO shortlists collapse to the same four names: Promptwatch, Profound, Otterly.AI, and Peec AI. They are not interchangeable. Two of them are monitoring dashboards. One is an enterprise dataset with a cheap ChatGPT-only door. One is a full visibility platform that also logs crawlers, attributes visits, and publishes pages.

Google's AI features docs tell you how Overviews and AI Mode treat links. They do not tell you if ChatGPT cited you last Tuesday. Search Console's generative AI performance reports cover Google only. This comparison is about the trackers you buy on top of that.

What each product is actually selling

Otterly.AI is the cheapest way to see whether GEO is even a problem. Lite is $29/mo ($25 annual) with 15 prompts and four base engines: ChatGPT, AI Overviews, Perplexity, Copilot. Setup is fast. The catch is in the invoice: Gemini, Claude, and AI Mode cost extra, extra prompts are $99/mo per 100, and the data can sit a week behind the live answer. Fine as a first dashboard. Fragile as a program.

Peec AI is the polished prompt tracker. Starter matches Promptwatch Essential on the $95/mo sticker and includes unlimited seats, which agencies like. You only get three models in the tier. The rest is an add-on. There is no backfill, so competitive history starts on day one of the contract. It answers "were we named" with screenshots. It does not write the replacement page.

Profound is the name people drop in enterprise RFPs. Starter at $99/mo annual is ChatGPT-only with 50 prompts. Growth at $399/mo annual covers three engines and 100 prompts. The dataset everyone cites (up to 10 engines, Prompt Volumes, Agents, API, SSO) is Enterprise, with no public price. Our catalog lists that tier as custom, reportedly $2,000 to $5,000+/mo. If you are buying the $99 plan thinking you bought Profound, you bought a ChatGPT sampler.

Promptwatch is the one that does not stop at the mention. Paid plans monitor the same prompt list across the engines above. Citation analytics break answers down by page, domain, Reddit, and YouTube. Agent Analytics tails ChatGPTBot, ClaudeBot, PerplexityBot, GoogleOther, and the other AI crawlers so a miss can be a robots problem instead of a "we need more content" guess. Visitor analytics (script or GTM) attach sessions and conversions to AI referrers. Content Agents plan, write, and publish AEO articles to Webflow or Framer. Explore is free (10 prompts, ChatGPT only). Essential is $95/mo. Professional, the plan most teams land on, is $245/mo. Business is $579/mo. Agency Kick-off is $199/mo with unlimited projects and prompts and 10 seats.

Sticker price vs a working configuration

Line up a boring mid-market brief: daily checks, ChatGPT plus Perplexity plus Gemini plus Claude, ~50 to 150 prompts, one workspace, someone who has to act on a gap.

  • Otterly Lite cannot do that brief. Standard at $189/mo still needs engine add-ons.
  • Peec Starter cannot do that brief without model add-ons, and Claude may force Enterprise.
  • Profound Starter cannot do that brief. Growth still misses engines. The real SKU is a sales call.
  • Promptwatch Essential covers the engine list on a public price. Professional adds headroom (150 prompts, 18,000 responses, 1M visitor events, 15 AEO articles).

Otterly still wins a "prove this category exists" budget. It loses the moment you need Claude on the same cadence as ChatGPT without a second line item.

Where Promptwatch is the better default

The other three can all tell you a brand string appeared. Only Promptwatch, in this set, also shows the crawl, the citing URL, the visit, and a publish path. That is the argument we make on the Promptwatch review, and it is why this four-way does not end in a tie.

Profound can match or beat raw engine count once you are on Enterprise. If you have a dedicated analyst and a custom contract, that is a coherent buy. It is not the same product as $99 Starter.

Peec is the dashboard you want when the job is "show the CMO a screenshot." Pairing it with a separate CMS workflow is normal. Paying for that stack plus crawler logs elsewhere is how teams accidentally rebuild Promptwatch.

Who should pick which

  • Promptwatch if you want one login for prompts, citations, crawler logs, AI traffic, and publishing instead of a tracker plus three other tools.
  • Profound if procurement already wrote "enterprise GEO platform" and you can wait on a custom quote for the 10-engine product.
  • Otterly.AI if you need a no-card trial and a $29 check that GEO is real, and you accept weekly-ish data.
  • Peec AI if tracking UX and unlimited seats matter more than crawlers, traffic, or writing the page.

Do not run all four. Two overlapping mention trackers will disagree, and you will spend the QBR explaining the delta instead of the gap.

FAQ

Which of the four is cheapest to start?

Promptwatch Explore is free (10 ChatGPT prompts). Otterly Lite is the cheapest paid plan at $29/mo. Profound Starter is $99/mo annual and Peec Starter is $95/mo, but both of those stickers buy a slice of the engine list. Cheap to start and cheap to run a 50-prompt, four-engine program are different questions.

Does any of this replace Google Search Console?

No. GSC's generative reports are the official Overviews and AI Mode scoreboard for verified properties. None of these four replace that, and GSC does not replace ChatGPT or Perplexity monitoring. Keep both.

Can I skip Promptwatch if I already like Peec or Otterly?

You can if the only deliverable is a mention rate. You cannot if you need to know whether ChatGPTBot fetched the URL, which page got the citation, whether the visit converted, and who will draft the missing article. That loop is the Promptwatch product. The live platform is the place to check it, not a second mention tracker.
