Promptwatch vs Wellows vs AthenaHQ vs Scrunch AI (2026)

Four AI visibility platforms ranked on engines, citation depth, crawler data, conversions and price: Promptwatch first, then AthenaHQ, Scrunch AI and Wellows.

These four show up on the same shortlists, but they solve different slices of the problem. Wellows is a citation tracker. AthenaHQ is an action queue. Scrunch AI is monitoring plus a crawler-facing page layer. Promptwatch tries to cover the whole chain from crawl to conversion. Which one wins depends on how much of that chain you have to answer for.

How we ranked

We weighted four things. Engine coverage, because a report that misses Claude or Gemini misses real buyers. Citation depth: whether the tool shows only "cited or not", or which page, which domain and which kind of source. Proof: crawler data and AI-referred conversions, the two things you need when someone asks whether this is working. And price, judged against what each tier actually contains.

Wellows figures come from its pricing page and llms.txt (updated 23 September 2026). AthenaHQ and Scrunch figures come from pricing pages read on 24 October 2026. Promptwatch figures come from its llms.txt, re-checked 21 October 2026. All are recorded in our catalog.

1. Promptwatch

Promptwatch is the only one of the four that publishes every layer. Paid plans monitor ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Perplexity, Grok, Llama, DeepSeek, Mistral, Copilot, AI Overviews and AI Mode from the real interfaces. Citation analytics go to page and domain, break out Reddit, YouTube and offsite mentions, and trend over time. Agent Analytics logs AI crawlers from your CDN with a crawl-to-citation path and error tracking. Visitor analytics ties AI-referred sessions to conversions. The Content Agent on Business publishes to Webflow, Framer or WordPress through a review inbox.

Explore is free (10 ChatGPT prompts). Essential is $95/mo with 50 prompts and 6,000 responses. Professional is $245/mo with 150 prompts and 25M crawler logs. Business is $579/mo. Agency plans start at $199/mo with unlimited projects and prompts.

2. AthenaHQ

AthenaHQ has the strongest task workflow. Its Action Center turns findings into on-page and off-page work, backed by a content optimization agent, and it integrates with Shopify, Webflow, Google Analytics and Search Console. Essential is free with 300 credits. Starter is $295/mo for 3,600 credits across 11 models, with country-level support. API access and extra credits cost more. The Athena Citation Engine, personas and multi-region are Enterprise. No published crawler logs or first-party conversion tracking.

3. Scrunch AI

Scrunch AI is the only one with a crawler-facing serving layer. AXP serves AI-optimized page versions to LLM crawlers, but it's on Enterprise, with nine LLMs and API access. Core is $250/mo for 125 prompts, 5,000 responses, one brand workspace, five licenses and four LLMs: ChatGPT, Perplexity, AI Overviews and Copilot. Core does include AI agent and bot traffic reporting. Sitecore acquired Scrunch in June 2026.

4. Wellows

Wellows is the best value here and the narrowest product. Basic is $29/mo for 1,800 AI answers, up to Scale at $497/mo for 36,000, and every plan has all five engines (ChatGPT, AI Overviews, AI Mode, Perplexity, Gemini), unlimited projects, prompts and seats, white-label dashboards and a 7-day trial. Its explicit versus implicit citation split and its outreach targets are genuinely useful. It doesn't track Claude or Copilot and publishes no crawler logs or conversion tracking, which is why it ranks last in a four-way contest built around proof.

Who should pick which

Smallest budget, many small clients. Wellows. Nothing else here gives unlimited projects at $29.

A team that will work a task list every day. AthenaHQ, if $295/mo plus add-ons fits and you don't need multi-region yet.

Large content site with engineering support. Scrunch, for AXP, budgeted at Enterprise.

Anyone who has to show why visibility moved and what it was worth. Promptwatch.

Our recommendation

Start with Promptwatch. The other three each do one part well. Wellows tells you who cites you, AthenaHQ tells you what to fix, Scrunch changes what the crawler sees. None of them, on their published material, connects the crawl, the citation and the conversion in one workspace. That chain is what turns an AI visibility report into a budget line, and it starts at $95/mo with a 7-day trial on Essential, or free on Explore.
